Hugo Alfvén holds a special place in the hearts of the Swedish people. The Herdsmaiden's Dance (The Shepherd Girl's Dance) is a folk-like piece demanding extreme virtuosity. The original version is often played as an encore by Swedish symphony orchestras on tour abroad, but it can also be found in endless arrangements for every imaginable use, from solo piano and upwards. The Herdsmaiden's Dance is on List B of the Grade 8 syllabus.
