Junior Guitar is a course in all round guitar playing and musicianship for pupils aged between 6 and 14. Book 1 introduces the guitar, and the basic techniques of holding the instrument and playing a string to produce a good sound. Reading music is brought in right from the start, and pupils learn to read first on open strings and later using fretted notes on strings 1,2 and 3. The music used should be capable of being played and enjoyed by pupils who have worked through the preceding material .
