Blue Strings is a compilation of compositions and arrangements in diverse styles, and one in which the blues is well represented. Together with other music styles, the blues was definitive in the development of what we now call pop, rock, jazz and so on. Characteristic of the style is the use of so-called 'blue notes', notes that can be played on the guitar by slightly bending the string. Chord symbols have been written for most of the tunes, making ensemble play possible.
