Edward Elgar wrote a number of short choral pieces for the choir of St George's Roman Catholic Church in Worcester, where his father was organist from 1846 to 1884. Elgar wrote a 'Pie Jesu' for a funeral in 1887 which he later rearranged & added a coda to create the 'Ave Verum Corpus', which was published in 1902 as Opus 2 No1.
